Creating a Fe3O4 (iron oxide) film on the product surface to improve hardness and corrosion resistance. Because the Fe3O4 film is created with steam, it is also called steam treatment or Homo treatment. The thickness of the Fe3O4 film is about 1~5µm and can be adjusted according to temperature and treatment time.
Products treated by Homo treatment method have improved oil retention properties so corrosion resistance is increased with anti-rust oil, abrasion resistance is increased with lubricating oil. Furthermore, black dyeing, a commonly used method in surface treatment is tetroxide treatment similar to Homo treatment, but Homo treatment has the property of easily making a thicker film than black dyeing method.
